I figured I'd post a really non-update in ways - unfortunately AdaptBB since the release of 1.0 hasn't received the attention I intended it to. And with the start and development of AdaptCMS 2.0, it has left no time for AdaptBB.
The good news is the beta of AdaptCMS 2.0 has been released and although there will be a small cooling off period before getting back to work on it, it will open up for some work and brainstorming - finally - on AdaptBB 1.1.
I know it may seem like AdaptBB is or will be dead but I'm posting to say that isn't correct. It has taken a backseat to AdaptCMS and that will continue in the foorseable future. But it is definitely an important part of Insane Visions and though 1.1 may be a more minor version than I expected, it will likely follow the version path of AdaptCMS but shortened - I could see fast updates before a major version is released with a new layout, whereas it took 6 versions for AdaptCMS to get a re-design.
Once I gather some thoughts on AdaptBB I'll post more.

AdaptBB 1.1 - Work starting soon

I realized with all this AdaptCMS 2.0 talk for some time now I should update with AdaptBB as well. Part of the reason besides the fact that 100% of my effort is going into AdaptCMS right now, there are some upcoming insanevisions.com features I may put into the next version of AdaptBB - AdaptBB 1.1.
Brainstorming (the first process) will finally begin soon and a blog should be up by the end of the month updating on the progress. Just a small heads up that AdaptBB is not dead and infact has quite a future!

AdaptBB 1.0 Released

Insane Visions is very happy to announce the release and immediate availability of AdaptBB 1.0! After a long wait the first official release of the script is finally available below:
With a lengthy and successful beta that fleshed out many bugs and a few security problems, AdaptBB still has a long ways to go but is a stable polished script that we felt was time to be released.
Among the many great features that AdaptBB, the top ones are a great support system, easy-to-use interface (2-step installation!) and a stable script. Despite being the first official release,AdaptBB has the advantage of AdaptCMS - you will see some features from the CMS in AdaptBB such as the nifty File Release System.
This feature essentially lets you update your AdaptBB files from the development website within the script, anytime. This can range from a simple fix to updating a serious bug without leaving your website. As wellAdaptBB features a quick edit feature to quickly edit those pesky little mistakes quickly, powerful search, rss, mod_rewrite and so much more!

AdaptBB 1.0 coming

Updates have been lacking, but progress has been made on AdaptBB 1.0 and AdaptCMS 1.5 - infact a beta release of AdaptCMS and the first release of AdaptBB 1.0 are expected quite soon, possibly as soon as this Thursday/Friday!
There are only a few minor things to be done on AdaptBB 1.0. AdaptCMS still has some significant features to be finished, but once any plugins are done, release of the Beta will follow afterwards.
Stay tuned to this Thursday/Friday for a very possible release of one/both!

AdaptBB 1.0 Beta - Released

Insane Visions is happy to announce the release and immediate availability of AdaptBB 1.0 Beta. Unlike previous AdaptCMS Beta's, this beta is not only available here at Insane Visions, but as well on Sourceforge:
This beta is the very first public release of any version of AdaptBB and the first fully public release of a Beta of any script, from Insane Visions. While this build of AdaptBB has received some minor bug testing, being the very first version, there will be several weeks at least of testing to flush out bugs and anything critical.
While the Beta goes on testers will be able to submit any problems/questions/feedback with a built-in support ticket system and will be able to get the very latest files right from within the AdaptBB ACP with a nifty "File Release System".
We hope to release AdaptBB 1.0 in the next 2-4 weeks. Stay tuned to adaptbb.com for updates.

AdaptBB - Demo Online

The latest version of AdaptBB, which will be released as 1.0 Beta in the next few days, has now been setup at the demo page. When logging in you can access the backend and frontend area with nearly full access from the skins area to forum management.
While the forum is fairly stable, it's still a Beta version so you may experience bugs. So go ahead to the link below and check it out for yourself!

AdaptBB 1.0 - Backend Revealed

It's been quite a while since we first took a look at AdaptBB and specifically, the frontend area. We're here now to reveal the backend area of the upcoming open source script.
With a demo coming up this week, we will be revealing more about AdaptBB as well as showing off practically every area of the backend area of the script.
Other than the screen shots we'll be covering several areas of the script including the skin system, custom fields, groups and more. Check it out!

AdaptBB 1.0 - Frontend Revealed

The updates haven't been coming too often partially because I wanted to wait to have kind of a "big reveal", info AND screen shots. Luckily this is that day!
A demo is still a little ways off, but I can see it happening in a week or at most, two. The possibility of a beta in that time frame is now also a fairly good possibility. That said in this Blog I'll talk about a few of the unique features and usability of AdaptBB. As well, check out the bottom of the article for the brand new frontend screen shots!

More work on AdaptBB

An article has been posted on Insane Visions with a monthly post showing last month's poll and then this month's and such. But normally included is an update on one of the scripts and in this posting some exciting things were revealed:
"...But more importantly is what I would consider "Major" progress on AdaptBB 1.0 in the past few days. Several exciting features are not being revealed just yet, but we have now gotten just about all main posting features done (make new topic, new reply, edit post, etc.) and are now working on permissions/authentication.
By all means there is still a lot of work left to do, from a system to know what topics and forums have been read by the user and CMS integration/Forum Converts among more forum features left to do. But with recent gains we hope to continue the progress and be able to release features and screen shots very soon! The possibility of a demo is still not going to happen really soon, but next month it's a pretty good possibility."
I've bolded the most important and exciting tidbits to read. At times it may seem like AdaptBB is a dead script or hardly worked on. It's true for a few weeks no work was done on it, but the lack of updates have mostly been because so many little things have been worked on to get it more and more functional.
But now that the main posting features are done (authentication/permissions were done last night!) we are looking at revealing features and screen shots very soon. With just the progress made between now and the post at Insane Visions, there's even a chance of a demo this month!

New AdaptBB.com Launched!

Welcome to the brand new AdaptBB.com! The new website for the upcoming PHP Forum script AdaptBB, is running off of AdaptCMS and once the script is in Beta form, will be used right here.
AdaptBB is a bulletin board/forum system written in PHP and MySQL powered that is currently in development. Once released, AdaptBB 1.0 will bring a lot to the new table outside from reputable customer service seen already with other Insane Visions scripts.
A full features list is not available yet, but some of the many features in AdaptBB will be an easy-to-use administration panel where you can completely customize forum skins, install and manage plugins with ease and also moderate forum posts, users, edit user groups, settings and much more!

AdaptBB - 1.0 Features

With the announcement of AdaptBB finally going under serious development for the first time in over 2 years, the release of AdaptBB 1.0 is finally going to happen and the work continues.
When it was decided that AdaptBB would be happening, it was then of course time to start the brainstoming. Whereas the CMS market is competitive, but has some holes and much to expand on, the forum market is practically locked up tightly but the two most popular - phpBB (open source) and vBulletin (paid).
However some unique features have been thought of for AdaptBB 1.0 and I'll share a few of those today.

Starting on AdaptBB

AdaptBB was announced, amazingly, over 2 years ago and v1.0 was never released. But 2 years and a few weeks after the website was first registered, AdaptBB was announced to be back in development. Soon after it was decided that rather than finishing the script, AdaptBB would just be re-done. Now over a month later the work on AdaptBB is still starting, but it's getting there. In this Blog I'll be giving an inside look at the going-ons of planning for a new script and some of the planned features.

AdaptBB 1.0 - Back in Development

After quite a long time thinking about it, I eventually decided to renew adaptbb.com and start the project back up. It was just about two years ago that it was announced and I just felt that I would eventually be doing a forum script and AdaptBB (as well as adaptbb.com) is a good name.
I wish I could say more, but all else I can say is that the script will be practically re-written, possibly with some OOP. It will be a lightweight forum system that will come built to be integrated into other CMS systems or standalone. In all likelyhood it will be released under GNU GPL as an Open Source script.
That's about it. Be sure to keep an eye out for it, I will be posting blogs about it here. Also checkout AdaptBB.com, it will be updated shortly with this info and more.
